  11. REV 1:1  The revelation of Jesus          [revelation] - the unveiling or   
  12. Christ, which God gave him to show        uncovering of the truth about    
  13. his servants what must soon take          Jesus Christ. Showing Him is His
  14. place. He made it known by sending        Splendor and Power.
  15. his angel to his servant John,            
  16.                                           [his angel] - A special Angel was
  17.                                           used, possibly Gabriel (Dan 8:16;
  18.                                           9:2; 21-22; LUK 1:26-31).   
  19.                                            
  20.                                           [John] - The Apostle John
  21. REV 1:2  who testifies to everything     
  22. he saw--that is, the word of God and 
  23. the testimony of Jesus Christ.

  25. REV 1:3  Blessed is the one who reads     Only Book in the Bible that promises
  26. the words of this prophecy, and           a Blessing to those who read, hear, 
  27. blessed are those who hear it and         and take to heart what is written.

  31. REV 1:4  John, To the seven churches      [seven churches] - Seven actual

  45. REV 1:6  and has made us to be a 
  46. kingdom and priests to serve his God 
  47. and Father--to him be glory and power 
  48. for ever and ever! Amen.

  86. lampstands,                               and some are brighter than others.

  88. REV 1:13  and among the lampstands        [like a son of man] - looked like a
  89. was someone "like a son of man,"          man but really different.  Jesus is
  90. dressed in a robe reaching down to        dressed like the man of mercy in
  91. his feet and with a golden sash           Ezekiel 9:2, 11 before the judgment.

  105. REV 1:16  In his right hand he held       [seven stars] - the seven messengers
  106. seven stars, and out of his mouth         or Pastors of the seven churches 
  107. came a sharp double-edged sword. His      (v.20).
  108. face was like the sun shining in all      
  109. its brilliance.                           [sword] - an instrument of judgment
  110.                                           with words, the Word of God, see   
  111.                                           ISA 11:4.

  113.                                           [face] - shines like the sun, most
  114.                                           likely His whole body was brilliant.
  115.                                           Pictures His Great Purity and Glory.

  117. REV 1:17  When I saw him, I fell at       [fell..dead] - Proper response of
  118. his feet as though dead. Then he          fear when in the presence of the 
  119. placed his right hand on me and said:     Holy God (EZE 1:28; DAN 8:17, 10:9)
  120. "Do not be afraid. I am the First and     But Jesus assures John not to be 
  121. the Last.                                 afraid, because He is All Powerful

  124. REV 1:18  I am the Living One; I was      [Living One] - Resurrected Christ

  141. REV 1:20  The mystery of the seven        [angels] - Messengers, that is, the
  142. stars that you saw in my right hand       Pastors of the Churches.
  143. and of the seven golden lampstands is 
  144. this: The seven stars are the angels 
  145. of the seven churches, and the seven 
  146. lampstands are the seven churches.
